New Trends in Control of Parasitic Infections in Freshwater Fishes

Abstract: The traditional methods of control and treatment of parasitic infection used to depend on chemotherapeutic antiparasitic drugs that has many disadvantages as: they are very rare and expensive and toxic with somehow may be of carcinogenic effect on the infested fish, consumer and the surrounding environment. This seems to be benefit less. Consequently, there was no escape to use recent medicines to avoid these catastrophic results on fish, human beings, environment and economy. The recent new trends to control and treat are prebiotics, probiotics, phytobiotics, immunostimulants, herbal plants, algae extracts, natural extracts (chelates), vaccines and Biosecurity for all wild and cultured fish. Good management and nutrition should be kept in mind when we manage a parasitic disorder. Probiotics, prebiotics, phytobiotics, immunostimulants and vaccines should be used as a prophylactive tools to parasitic infections. Traditional methods should not be ignored in the control of such problems. Herbal extracts such as garlic and Artemisia are considered friendly environmental antiparasitic to control of parasitic fish diseases. Chelating products such as humic and fulvic should be used in control of parasitic infections. Biosecurity should be used effectively in problems associated with parasites in aquaculture.

Response of Bartemoda Date Palms to Spraying Silicon and Vitamin E

Abstract: During 2016 and 2017 seasons, Bartemuda date palms grown under Aswan conditions were treated with vitamin E at 10 to 40 ppm and/or potassium silicate at 0.025 to 0.1%. The palms received four sprays at the last week of March, April, May and June. Single and combined applications of vitamins E each at 10 to 40 ppm and potassium silicate at 0.025 to 0.1% was very effective in improving vegetative growth aspects, palm nutritional status, yield and fruit quality relative to the control. The promotion was associated with increasing concentrations of both materials. Using potassium silicate was superior than vitamin E in this respect. The best results with regard to yield and fruit quality were obtained due to treating the palms four times (March, April, May and June) with a mixture of vitamin E at 20 ppm and potassium silicate at 0.05%.

Effect of Silicon and Chitosan on Fruit Setting, Yield and Fruit Quality of Zebda Mango Trees Grown Under Minia Region Conditions

Abstract: This study was carried out during 2016 and 2017 seasons to examine the effect of using silicon via two sources ( potassium or calcium silicate ) at 0.05 to 0.2% twice or thrice and chitosan at 0.1% (thrice) on fruit setting, yield and fruit quality of Zebda mango trees. Treating the trees with silicon via potassium and calcium forms at 0.05 to 0.2% twice or thrice and / or chitosan at 0.1% (thrice) was very effective in enhancing initial fruit setting %, yield and fruit quality characteristics relative to the control treatment. Total acidity and total crude fiber % tended to reduce with the present treatments. Silicon in the form of potassium silicate materially was more effective than using the other silicon form namely calcium silicate. Using silicon was measurably effective than using chitosan in this respect. The best results with regard to fruit setting, yield and fruit quality was attributed to using potassium silicate and chitosan at 0.1 for each together three times (at growth start, just after fruit setting and 21 days later) with a mixture of potassium silicate and chitosan together each at 0.1%.

Abstract: We Humans, a curious beings developed from the Darwin’s principle of natural selection, are accustomed into an inquisition. The question is not ‘do we know everything from the triumph of the Higgs boson to the underlying discomfort of ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything?’ or it is ‘do we know enough?’ But how the creative principle resides in mathematics? There’s something very mathematical about our gigantic Cosmos, and that the more carefully we look, the more equations are built into nature: our universe isn’t just described by math, but that universe is a “grand book” written in the language of mathematics. We find it very appropriate that mathematics has played a striking role in our growing understanding of the events around us, and of our own existence.

Effect of water stress on yield of lettuce (Red Salad Bol) in greenhouse conditions

Abstract: According to the lack of water and the reduction of the quality of available water resources, finding solutions has been considered that increase production without diminishing the quality of the yield. In this research, yield of lettuce of red salad bol, under different treatments of irrigation water and greenhouse cultivation, was investigated in greenhouse of College of Agriculture, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. The experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design with a treatment of water of irrigation at three levels (I1:100%, I2:80% and I3:60%) in three replications. The results showed that irrigation levels were significant at on yield at 5% probability level. The highest yield (fresh weight) was related to the control treatment of (0.14 kg) and the lowest was related to the treatment of (0.09 kg).

Physical and Chemical Variations in Water Quality of Imo River Owing to Human Perturbations in the System

Abstract: Studies on the physical and chemical changes in water quality of Imo River owing to human perturbations in the system were conducted for 12 months (between May 2016 and April 2017). Water samples were collected monthly in four stations along the river and analyzed using standard procedures. Mean values obtained for physico-chemical parameters of water samples showed that TDS, DO, BOD, nitrate, phosphate and ammonia values were higher in wet season while pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, chloride, sulphate, cadmium, copper, iron, lead, zinc and manganese values were higher during the dry season. The seasonality observed in the parameters during the study was attributed to influx of allochthonous materials and dilution as a result of surface run-off during the wet season and evapo-transpiration during the dry season. Spatial variation during the study was attributed to the nature and levels of human activities emanating within each of the stations. Physico-chemical parameters (ammonia, lead, iron, copper and cadmium) exceeded the permissible WHO Standard for portable water which calls for concern regarding its effects on human health. Correlation analysis revealed strong positive relationships amongst pairs of physico-chemical parameters of water suggesting that an increase in one parameters leads to a corresponding increase in another parameter. However, the series of activities going on in and within the study area, coupled with the findings of this study further vindicate the need for continuous monitoring and management of our indigenous water bodies. Based on the result of findings the water from Imo River is not portable for human consumption and other domestic activities.

The investigation of the relationship between financial competition and restrictions in companies accepted in Tehran Stock Exchange

Abstract: This research aims to study the relationship between financial competition and restrictions in companies accepted in Tehran Stock Exchange. This study is an applied research regarding objective and it is correlation regarding data collection method. Data collected through observing financial statement and reports of attached financial statement of office database and other companies and Stock exchange Organization and investigating wide articles and research background in this field. This research’s results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between Herfindahl-Hirschman index regarding coefficient (0.088) and significance level (0.002) and financial restrictions, but there is a negative and significant relationship between two other competition indexes in this research including Concentration Competition and Tobin’s Q Competition performance with coefficients (-0.114) and (-0.128) and significance level (0.000) with companies’ financial restrictions, respectively.

Investigating Customer Behaviour Heterogeneity Pattern Using Exponential-Gamma Timing Model

Abstract: Managers today are very interested in knowing the future purchasing pattern of their customers thereby providing little insight about individual-level shopping behaviour. Additionally, behaviour may evolve over time, especially in a changing environment. This research develops an individual-level model for customer store visiting behaviour based on buying-behaviour data from standard wholesales outlet. We capture cross-sectional variation in store-visit behaviour as well as changes over time as visitors gain experience with the store, as the composition of the customer population changes, the overall degree of buyer heterogeneity that each store faces may change. We also examine the relationship between visiting frequency and purchasing propensity. However, we also show that changes (i.e., evolution) in an individual’s visit frequency over time provides further information regarding which customer segments are more likely to buy. Rather than simply targeting all frequent shoppers, our results suggest that a more refined segmentation approach that incorporates how much an individual’s behaviour is changing could more efficiently identify a profitable target segment.

Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of new 5-substituted-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiols as potent antioxidants

Abstract: A novel series of thirteen 5-substituted-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiols (3a-m) was designed, synthesized, and evaluated for its potential antioxidant activities. Structural modifications at position 5 of the 1,3,4-thiadiazole scaffold (linked to a fixed antioxidant thiol group at position 2 of the ring) was expected to give new 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives with a broad spectrum of bio- logical antioxidant activity. The synthesis of these new compounds was achieved through three different steps. Undoubted elucidation and confirmation of the chemical structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were accomplished using both the spectroscopical (IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectroscopy (MS)) and elemental (C, H, and N) analyses. The pharmacological screening for evaluation of the antioxidant activity of the new thirteen target thiol compounds was done using in vitro antioxidant screening by both 2,2'-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical cation decolorization assay (ABTS test) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay (DPPH test). The results of both assays showed that three compounds (3b,d,h) exhibited interestingly very high antioxidant activities and they could be very promising lead and parent compounds for the design and synthesis of new antioxidant agents by further in vivo biological evaluation, structural modifications, investigations, computational studies, and SAR establishment.

The effect of different levels of Matricaria chamomilla on functional status of liver in rats injected with carbon tetrachloride (Ccl4).

Abstract: Background: The word chamomile actually refers to a range of different daisy-like plants, which are a member of the Asteraceae family. There are many different species of chamomile, the two most commonly being German chamomile (Marticaria chamomilla) and Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). They have been used since Ancient times for their calming and anti-inflammatory properties, and each offer their own additional health benefits. The plant's healing properties come from its daisy-like flowers, which contain volatile oils (including bisabolol, bisabolol oxides A and B, and matricin) as well as flavonoids (particularly a compound called apigenin) and other therapeutic substances. Objective: This investigation aims to study the possible therapy of different levels of Matricaria chamomilla on functional status of liver in rats injected with carbon tetrachloride (Ccl4). Design: Thirty-six male albino rats were treated subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride (Ccl4) in paraffin oil 50% V/V (2ml / kg b. wt.) twice a week for two weeks to induce chronic damage of the liver. After the injection of Ccl4, blood samples were obtained by retro orbital method to ensure occurrence of liver injury and to estimate liver function. The obtained data were statistically analyzed using computerized SPSS Results: Rats given Ccl4 and fed on 5% Matricaria chamomilla showed the highest significant increase in the mentioned relative organ weight as compared to all levels of treatment. Rats given Ccl4 then fed on a combination of all levels of treatment showed the highest decrease of AST, ALT and ALP enzyme levels in the serum. The decrease in serum AST, ALT and ALP enzyme levels. rats given Ccl4 prior to feeding on all levels of treatments revealed the highest decrease in serum lipoprotein HDL, LDL, VLDL fraction levels.
