Abstract: It is essential to ensure proper quality of water used for drinking and irrigation purposes. Use of inferior quality of water for drinking will adversely affect human health. In developing countries like India, most of the population use untreated groundwater for various purposes, as they do not have access to good quality water. The chemical hazards are the Calcium, Magnesium, Nitrate etc. As the public health concern, the groundwater should be free from physical and chemical hazards. The environmental problems existing impact on groundwater quality have been the most prominent in the recent years. The Contamination of groundwater is the major environmental risk. Suitability of groundwater for drinking purposes depends upon its quality has been identified as one of the major threats to groundwater resources not only in India but throughout the world. The drinking quality of water depends on various suspended, dissolved and biological constituents. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS 2003) and the World Health Organization (WHO 2006) have prescribed maximum permissible limits for various dissolved ions in water used for human intake. Researchers around the world have studied the quality of water based on these standards.

IPC Section 377 missing in the proposed Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 would lead men remediless towards unnatural offences against them

Jamshed Ansari

Assistant Public Prosecutor in the Directorate of Prosecution, Government of NCT of Delhi (India)

Abstract: The Government of India has introduced three Bills in the Lok Sabha: The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill, 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023, to replace the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act,1872, respectively. The biggest weakness in the proposed Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill that seeks to replace the IPC is the complete elimination of Section 377 of IPC without putting in place alternative mechanisms of redressal for unnatural offences against animals and adult men. The absence of any such law in the new Code Bill to address unnatural offences towards man and animal opens the door for such crimes to proliferate.

Abstract: Water generally collects in the river from rains and other sources such as groundwater recharges, springs, snow and climate changes, heavy rains, droughts affect the river. It is possible to predict what climate conditions will be like in river basin catchment areas in the next 50 years roughly through Monsoon Time Scales. According to an estimate, Brahmaputra river will overflow with floods in the coming years. Through this research proposal we can know the future consequences of that Brahmaputra river. Plans can be made accordingly. So, scientists can establish Monsoon Time Scale for that river basin catchment areas and predict what is going to happen in that Brahmaputra river basin catchment areas in the coming 50 years roughly.
