Abstract:
The Influence of land
use types on the soil physico-chemical properties in Federal
College of Education Otite, Guinea Savanna Zone, Nigeria was
examined. The following arable land uses were selected; maize/
cowpea intercrop, Yam/ Cassava sole crop and Fallow. An area of
almost flat land of 50m by 30m was selected under each of the
three land use types. For individual land use type, surface soil
samples were collected at the depth of 0 – 30cm and analyzed for
some physical and chemical properties. The result shows that
nine properties (Total N, Ca, Mg, K, Na, CEC, Sand, Clay and
Silt) are significantly different (P=0.01). However there is no
significant difference in pH, Organic matter and bulk density
for the three land use types. The study was able to establish
that land use types affect soil properties in the study area.

Abstract:
Sturgeons are the most valuable
aquatic animals in the Caspian Sea. Sturgeon fries at 100 mg
weight easily trapped in heavy dense stands of
submerged aquatic vegetation. Due to the often detrimental
impacts of submerged weeds on growth and mortality of young
fish, removal of nuisance vegetation with minimal harm to
sturgeon fries is a desirable goal. Paraquat (1,1´-dimethyl-4,
4´-bipyridinium ion) was evaluated at rates of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 5,
and 10 mg l-1 in the fish ponds for control of
Potamogeton crispus, Ceratophyllum demersum,
Myriophyllum spicatum and Hydrilla verticillata in
the International Institute of Caspian Sea, Shahid Ansari and
Shahid Beheshti Fish Research Stations, Rasht, Iran during
2011-2012. Paraquat treatments were conducted on May 25, 2011
and June 10, 2012. The 5 mg l-1 treatments and above
reduced biomass of all aquatic weeds by > 75%. Treatment of 10
mg l-1 reduced the biomass of aquatic weeds by > 90%;
however this application rate also significantly reduced growth
several desirable and non-target species such as Chara by
> 90%. Biomass of submerged weeds following the 0.5, 1, 2 mg l-1
application of paraquat were reduced 8, 12 and 26% respectively.
Results showed the removal of competitive, canopy forming weeds
such as Potamogeton crispus, Ceratophyllum
demersum and Myriophyllum spicatum open new areas and
increased the survivability rate of sturgeon fries by 45%.

Abstract:
In this paper, violation of funds
of companies was investigated due to production of defective
goods. How much of defective goods and to convert waste into
safe products are healthy rework process and whether or not it
is cost-effective implementation of this process. Members of the
group to gather the information needed for the above topics were
designed questionnaires by which the required information about
waste and the amount of gain. It was originally intended that
the members of this statistical sample to the same goods are
institutions that limit, but then because of the shortage of the
population they tried to take by raw materials. After selection
by the founder of the completed questionnaires population were

Abstract:
Carbon sequestration is the
process of removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the
atmosphere and ‘storing’ it in plants that use sunlight to turn
CO2 into biomass and oxygen.
The integration of carbon sequestered by forest ecosystems into
forest management planning models has become increasingly more
important, particularly in the areas of climate change, land
use, and sustainable forest management. The objective of the
study was to develop and evaluate carbon sequestration
prediction models for Gmelina arborea. Based on the data
set from the temporary sample plots, several regression models
including semi logarithm, double logarithm, power, polynomials
and combined variable models were tested. These models were
evaluated in terms of coefficient of determination (R2),
standard error of the estimate (SEE) and
Akiakes Information Criteria (AIC).
The significance of the estimated parameters was also verified.
Plot of residuals against estimated carbon sequestered were
observed. Polynomial models were observed to be more consistent
in their predictive ability; and were therefore recommended for
predicting carbon sequestered in the stand.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to identify motifs of Iranian kilims and
gabbehs, which have long been studied so far. Gabbeh and rug are
concrete manifestation of Iranian art which are worthy of an
extended amount of importance and value. Such motifs and designs
tend to determine the creative mind, unworldly wisdom,
never-resting muscles, ultimate power and the ideas of the
weavers. These motifs and designs feature certain secrets and
roots in a way that getting to know them provides insight on
life philosophy, myths and structure of customs of native
tribes. Beliefs and customs of every nation or race could be
examined through stories, myths, historic sites and ancient
remains from the old times. Encryption-intended designs and
motifs in addition to simplify the designs along with vivid and
dynamic coloring do require wide range of attention and
analysis. Of the major strengths of the rugs are the
originality, nativity and finally being wholly Iranian.

Abstract:
Maize (Zea mays) is one of the most important cereal crops in
the world agricultural economy. It is known as queen of cereals
and king of fodder due to its great importance in human and
animal diet. Many farmers grow maize but could not afford the
cost of acquiring some of the imported shelling machines because
of their cost. Such people resort to traditional means of
shelling. The traditional shelling methods are rubbing the maize
cobs against each another, rubbing on bricks or stone and by
using iron cylinder consisting of wire mesh inside. These
methods are time consuming and result to low efficiency, high
level of wastage and exerting of much labour. In view of this,
the study was undertaken to design, fabricate and evaluate a
hand operated maize sheller that is low cost and efficient. The
maize sheller consisted of a cylinder and a concave. The
cylinder made up of mild steel of size diameter 20 cm. The
cylinder length 86 cm, having beaters which rotates along the
cylinder and separates grains from the cobs. While the concave
was fabricated using 2mm size mild steel sheets. The length of
concave was 86cm with opening size of 13mm diameter. It was
observed that for hand operated maize sheller at a moisture
content of 16 % w.b., the shelling efficiency, cobs outlet loss
and visible damage was found to be 75.03 %, 24.97 % and 1.3 %,
respectively.

Abstract:
Human Heart-Type Fatty Acid
Binding Protein (H-FABP), a small
(15kDa) cytoplasmic tissue specific protein, is mainly expressed
by myocytes. Aim: The
aim of this work is to compare between (H-FABP) as a sensitive
biomarker than other traditional biomarkers for early
differential diagnosis of acute chest pain. Methods:
This study was carried out on 60 subjects and
classified into four groups; Control group,
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), Unstable angina (UA) and Non
cardiac chest pain (NCCP). We assessed serum levels of
LDH, Tropinine-I, CK-MB, H-FABP and Myoglobin. Results:
We found that Serum H-FABP was significantly higher in AMI and
UA in comparison with control and NCCP groups (P<0.05). Serum H-FABP
differentiated between AMI group & UA group at cut off 22.35 ng/ml
with sensitivity 85%, specificity 70 %, and over all accuracy
81.2%. Serum H-FABP differentiated between AMI group cases of 0
– 3 hours, as it has the highest sensitivity of the studied
cardiac markers. Conclusion: This study showed that
Measurement of serum H-FABP can be used in early differential
diagnosis of acute chest pain patients.

Abstract:
Present
investigation was designed for examination of levamisole Hcl on
Clarias gariepinus as immunostimulant, growth promoter
and protect fish from challenge infection with Aeromonas
hydrophila. A total number of 150 Clarias gariepinus
were fed diets containing 0 (control), 50, 100, 250 and 500 mg
levamisole Hcl kg 1 dry diet for 14 days. Lysozyme
and blood lymphocyte proliferation were dermined at 0, 2, 4, 6,
and 8 weeks after last administration of levamisole. Fish were
challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila 4 weeks
post-treatment, and mortalities were recorded over a 40-day
period. The results demonstrate that fish treated with
levamisole showed significantly lysozyme elevated levels than
control group (P<0.05). Elevated lymphocyte proliferation were
recorded significantly with addition of levamisole (P>0.05). The
levamisole treated fish were the more resistant. 50 mg
levamisole kg 1 dry diet had no effects on the immune
response of Clarias gariepinus, whereas 500 mg levamisole
kg -1 dry diet caused immunosuppression. The present
results suggest that administration of 250 mg levamisole kg
-1 dry diet to Clarias gariepinus should be optimum
for stimulating nonspecific defense mechanisms and the specific
immune response against Aeromonas
hydrophila.

Abstract:
A
cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2015 to April
2016 in four selected settlements of Dangur area northwestern
Ethiopia with the aim to determine the prevalence of bovine
trypanosomosis and to assess apparent densities of vectors.
Baited mono pyramidal traps were used for the vector survey
while Buffy coat technique was used for the determination of
prevalence of trypanosomosis. One species of the genus
Glossina (Glossina tachynoides) and three genera of biting
flies (Stomoxys, Tabanus and heamatopota) were caught and
identified. The overall apparent density of tsetse flies and
other biting flies caught were 1073 (9.75) flies per trap per
day) and 852(7.74) respectively. A higher number of female
Glossina species 659(61.4%) was caught than male 414(38.6%).
Out of a total 439 cattle examined, 43 (9.8%) with 95% CI:
[8.26% – 12.38%] were found infected with trypanosomes. The
species of trypanosomes encountered in the current study were
Trypanosoma congolense and Trypanosoma vivax which
accounted for 72.09% and 28.91% of the overall infection,
respectively. The prevalence in all selected peasant
associations (PAs) were 10.35%, 8.50%, 13.89% and 5.89% for
Demtsatse, Azarti kitili, Alkasha and Burji respectively. In
this study, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05)
between PAs, body condition, age and sex. Statistically
significant difference (P< 0.05) was observed with the mean PCV
values between parasitaemic (21.9%) and aparasitaemic animals
(29.3%) and species of trypanosoma.
According to this study, the
prevalence of bovine trypanosomosis and the presence of its
vector are evident that can pose impact to the performance of
livestock in the area. Therefore, possible control options
should be implemented to reduce the disease associated economic
loss.
